1-5-10 ... Going out, doing stuff.

I'm still getting used to writing "10."  It seems even smaller and more surreal than "00" was.

So far, so good today.  I'm feeling up and productive, and the weather is gorgeous.  It's been sunny and cold - my favorite combination and the one most likely to make me get out and do stuff.  So today I took the girls to Full Bloom, which has become a frequent request of Carmen's.  Carolyn is really comfy there, too, and so I get to sit and knit while I sip tea and talk baby with other women and couples.

Then we piled back in the car and headed to Main Street Yarns to buy more crack.  I mean yarn.  This time, a nice baby llama in purple for a hat for yours truly, and some baby alpaca in purplish for part of a cowl for Pat, the wonderful owner of Full Bloom.  Carmen was really good for both trips, and Carolyn is also in a fine mood today.  I got them home, snacked them up, and now they're both taking a nap at the same time.  A miracle!!

I'm taking the quiet time to start my new hat while the roomba sweeps the floor.

We may be getting snow this Thursday, which would be another little miracle.  Let's hope that we can keep our power on this time, unlike last year, when it was out for four days!

In honor of napping baby, I bring you today's photo.  This was actually taken on Sunday, but I'm going to cheat a bit.

1-4-10 .... Basia's Birthday!

Happy Birthday, Basia!

The day started out well ... I got my butt out of bed and all of our butts out the door to go to the Y for a quick workout.  I took my knitting and only got a few funny looks from people while working on a mittlet for Tyme while chugging away on a stationary bike.  You can't beat 15 rows of knitting while burning 250 calories.

It was too windy to play outside (wind chill of 22 is a little much for me) so I took the girls to Chik Fil A for some cheap thrills on their indoor playground.  Carmen makes friends easily and quickly and always has fun, even if all she's going is climbing up and going down the same slide repeatedly.  I worked some more on knitting and talked to fellow moms while Carolyn had fun watching the other kids play.

We got home and I was able to finish Tyme's mittlet before he got off of work.  I'm really happy with the way that they came out!  I can see where I would change a stitch here or there, but, overall, they look nice and are very comfortable.

I finally got to wish Basia a happy birthday over the phone in the evening, and we've hopefully coordinated a time to meet on Friday.  I'm hoping that we don't get snowed or iced in on Thursday night now.  I would really like to give her her present before it gets too warm outside!

We pulled out the Wii and played a bit of Boom Blox after the kids went down, drank a margarita each, then went downstairs to watch Tyme play Dragon Age while I did more... knitting... before bedtime.  A little obsessed?  Maybe.  But I have lost 6 pounds and stopped biting my nails, so that's ok.

Here's a photo of a finished fingerless mittlet:

1-3-10 .. lazy Sunday

Not much got done for me today, but I did start a pair of fingerless mittlets for Tyme out of leftover wool/alpaca yarn (from Dad's Santa hat).  I made up the pattern when he told me that he would like cables on the back and plain stockinette stitch on the palms.  Tyme got outside and did the finishing and caulking on the windows, so at least he was productive.

In the evening, we pulled out the Wii Fit for the first time and had fun hula hooping and doing some other of their games.  My Wii age is 32, which isn't too bad since I'm 31.5.  Heh.  Tyme's was something like 27, which is awesome since he's nearly 35.

Carolyn is awful close to crawling, I think, but we're not exactly pushing it!  Here's a photo of her snapped by Tyme:

12-29-09 - Catch up day

Lazy day today... hoping to get a bit of pre-party cleaning in, and catch up on phlogging a little.  May also visit Full Bloom to get some knitting and social time in.

I'm hoping to finish Dad's Santa hat today, too, so that I can give it to him for Christmas.  Here's a photo of it in progress:

12-28-09 - Carmen Angel

Some days, Carmen is an awesome kid ALL DAY.  Today was that day!  We went to the Y early on, and she played great and didn't want to leave when I was done.  I spent a full hour on a stationary bike, knitting the whole time.  It rocked.... definitely be doing more of that in the future!

We came home and had snacks, and she was great.  We ran out to the bank, and she was sweet.  We came home for lunch and outdoor playing time, and she rocked.  Then it was naptime, and she went down easy.  Even dinner and after dinner play time was wonderful.  Carolyn was happy all day, too - bonus!

I ran outside to see if I could get a picture of Jupiter's moons again today with the new tripod.  Unfortunately, my eyes weren't working too great and the photos are out of focus.  Oh well, there will be more clear nights!

Since my photos all kind of sucked today, I'll post one from yesterday.  This is Carmen using her new fingerpaints from Grandmother...  she wasn't so sure about getting her fingers messy, so she mostly used a paintbrush:

12-27-09 - New tripod!

Today, we finally got to pick up our "ladies" from Double Durrango farm.  They should be having their kids sometime in late April.  Let's hope for more girls this time!!!

We also went to Main Street Yarns to get some yarn for Dad's Santa hat.  We got an alpaca/wool combo for the red and a baby llama for the trim.  The baby llama is incredibly soft - I want to swim in it.

Tyme got a new tripod for me for Christmas!  I'm really stoked to try and catch more stars now that I can point the camera in lots of directions, instead of just straight up.

We're also really enjoying our new living room.  I spent lots of time today on the new windowseat and on the couch, which is oriented in a really pleasing way now.  I'd always been afraid that it would make the room unusable to have it in the middle of the room, but it actually works out really well.

Here is a shot of the moving stars, taken at 2 AM - check out the green on the trees and the beautiful stars!  This is with no photoshop enhancements:

12-17-09 - New windows, and Santa

This morning started out with a lot of waiting and some cleaning.  The windows got here late, and Uncle FL got here even later.  As soon as he pulled up, though, he got right to work ripping up the window in the front to make way for our new bay window, and after about 8 hours, it is nearly done.  Tyme was helping, too, which is awesome since we're both into learning as much about construction as possible.

I also put up the Christmas tree and took the girls to visit Santa Dzia Dzia for pictures.  When we got back, I started to immediately make our holiday cards, since those need to go out on Saturday at the latest.

Tomorrow, we plan on finishing the bay window and (hopefully) starting on replacing the other windows.  The new ones look awesome and I can't wait to see what the house looks like with them in!
